Ensuring that cleaning of public buildings (schools, police stations, ministries, universities, etc.) occurs in a sustainable manner is of great importance both for the environment and for society.
The use of sustainable and innovative cleaning solutions is desirable to:
• Relieve the burden on the workforce, so that workers do not have to handle containers/containers that are too large or heavy or come into contact with aggressive cleaning agents
• Avoid overdosing/waste when an automated dosing system cannot be used
• Avoid or facilitate the transfer from large to smaller containers
• Increase the sustainable components of cleaning agents (e.g. recycled content in packaging material, environmentally friendly chemicals, ecological alternatives to chemical agents)
• Finding solutions that conserve resources, e.g. using less or no water
• Finding solutions that enable chemical-free cleaning

Desired result
Maintenance cleaning of buildings includes the daily/weekly/recurring cleaning of surfaces (floors, furniture/sanitary facilities) but excludes disinfection.
Sustainable and innovative solutions are sought for this service. All solutions must be suitable for use in public buildings under varied conditions.
Claims of sustainability or degree of sustainability must be verifiable.
At least one of the following aspects must be considered:
• Sustainable and/or innovative packaging of cleaning agents
• Sustainable and/or innovative cleaning agents
• Sustainable and/or innovative dosing solution of cleaning agents
• Solutions for chemical-free cleaning
• Solutions for resource-saving cleaning
• Avoidance of the need to decant through innovative dosing methods (automated dosing systems excluded)
• Greatly increased occupational safety when handling cleaning agents (no leaks, no aggressive chemicals)
Solutions that are not desired:
Cleaning methods, cleaning equipment

Take this opportunity to showcase your innovative solutions and approaches as part of this market exploration and present these solutions for the maintenance cleaning of public buildings to the Bundesbeschaffung GmbH.
NOTE: Consortium submissions are possible.

Guideline: a maximum of three to four A4 pages or ten to fifteen presentation slides in total.

• A cover picture as a visually attractive figurehead on the Challenge page.
Confidential information
You may make information available to the jury confidentially and non-publicly. To do this, send confidential files to the moderators of the challenge by e-mail within the deadline after completing the on-line submission.
Additionally, the following documentation should be attached:
• Proof of sustainability
• Certificates
• References that highlight current applications
• Indication of how sustainability claims are visible on the supplied product (e.g. symbol)
Benefits of the challenge and further project development
The challenge provides the sponsor with an overview of solutions and potential partners. A jury of internal and external experts invites those companies whose solutions that achieved the highest score based on the evaluation criteria to an innovation dialogue.
By taking part in the challenge your company will be recognized as a potential supplier to the public entity. Your submission will remain visible as your business card for other interested parties even after the end of the challenge.
You position yourself for further public sector procurement projects. If you are among the winners and are invited to the final innovation dialogue, you can present your solution at a market discussion. You may exchange ideas directly with the project owners.
This engagement creates awareness and understanding of suitable innovations on the part of the public entity. This is important so that, on completion of the market exploration, the contracting party can take innovative approaches into account in any procurement project in accordance with the Federal Procurement Act.

In addition to the approach described above, the proposed solutions could be considered in award criteria in tenders for cleaning services. This would promote cooperation with cleaning companies.
